PREPARING DATA
FOR THE MARKETPLACE

Barrel Protocol automates consumer data compliance using smart contracts - unlocking the $600B global data market.

Every Click You Make

Every action users take online leaves a digital paper trail. When cleaned of PII (personally identifiable information), this online consumer data is a valuable resource that can be analyzed, bought and sold.

Got Questions?

Is Barrel a platform?

No, Barrel is a protocol built on the NEO blockchain platform that intends to automate consumer data compliance, preparing the data for the $600B global data market.

Is there a possibility to mine BRN tokens, how much does it cost to set up a node?

Yes, there is a way to mine BRN. We’re still finalizing the guideline but we’re aiming for 18 master, each holding at least 1m BRN in reserve.

What are the Benefits of decentralizing the data scrub process?

In one word Trust. Rather than going through an elaborate privacy and compliance process per customer, with Barrel the cleaning process will be per dataset, and once it’s clean it is clean for everyone.

Your CEO is already a big name in the data space, why do you feel the need to enter blockchain?

Our team’s vast experience in the data industry is exactly why we are building Barrel. We have seen and been impacted by the inefficiencies first hand.
Blockchain allows for a decentralized trusted process for verifying that data has been cleaned. The current process is inefficient and expensive, significantly inhibiting the transaction process. A public ledger with a cryptographically signed block, will ensure that each dataset is cleaned once and for all! We are using our experience in the industry to do a world of good.

Will there be a cap for fundraising and supply of coins?

Fundraising is capped at 25m USD for 50% of the overall supply.

How will barrel help me be GDPR compliant?

GDPR is a new EU regulation put in place to protect user data. In practice much of the work is done on conference calls with expensive lawyers. We believe that much of the process can be replaced by machines running consensus-driven, data-specific algorithms. Our proof of anonymity should significantly reduce cost for data buyers, provide new markets for data vendors and provide the regulator with an added layer of protection for user data.

The GDPR states that all personal user data be subject to removal by request so we go one step further and scrub any personal data so it can be distributed onwards to 3rd parties for all purposes.

How do you plan to get revenue for data sellers?

By reducing cost of GDPR compliance, shortening sales cycles, lowering cost of integration and opening new markets

Will you use PoW or PoS?

Barrel uses a Proof of Anonymization model. (Refiners are empowered to anonymize blocks of data based on agreed upon protocols, and nodes can then verify the anonymity and seal the block. Similarly to Bitcoin hashing, anonymizing the data is hard while verifying it is easy. Each data type will have a different anonymization protocol. Multiple miners - Refiners - can fight to approve a certain block of data and will be incentivized to do so.)

How do you plan to spend the funds raised?

Usage of the supply will be as follows :
40% - Software Development
20% - Barrel Reserve
12% - Marketing and Business Development
10% - Seeding Refineries and Smart Contract Development
8% - Operational Expense
5% - Legal Expenses
5% - Misc and Unexpected

Why is Barrel on the Blockchain?

Blockchain allows for a decentralized trusted process for verifying that data has been cleaned. The current process is inefficient and expensive, significantly inhibiting the process. A public ledger with a cryptographically signed block, will ensure that each dataset is cleaned once and for all!

What’s the price of BRN token?

As of July 1, 20 BRN tokens are worth ~$1

Will there be a public sale?

Barrel is currently in private sale. A portion of the tokens will be offered to the public.

What will the Barrel token (BRN) be used for?

Barrel Token will be used to confirm the anonymity and compliance of any data transaction. It will also be used to pay refineries for the their work as well as nodes that are tasked with confirming the anonymity of data.
